
1. Historical milestones
PPIS
was founded in 1952 with its headquarters at Haigsville
Drive. In the 70's and 80's PPIS began to provide
direct services to women and their families. The
first pre-school was introduced in the 80's. To
date we have three kindergartens, three childcare
centres and two student care centres.
The
As-Salaam Family Support Centre was set up in
the late 80's. In the early 90's, PPIS started
giving financial aid to the poor and elderly.
Our
headquarters was relocated to Eunos Crescent in
Dec 97. We became a zakat collection centre in
April 97. Our health and fitness centre which
caters for Muslim women only is located at No
: 20 Joo Chiat Road.
2. Objectives of Association
The objectives of the association
is to establish and strive for the betterment
of muslim women in the field of religion, education
and culture in particular and for the development
and progress of the nation in general.
3. Association's slogan
"Muslimah
Berwawasan" or "Muslim Women With Vision"
4. Association's Vision
To be a dynamic Muslim
Women's organisation contributing towards the
development of a community of excellence.
5. Association's Mission
To create opportunities and to
address the needs & interests of women in
their roles towards building strong families.
6. Core Values
We have adopted the acronym
"SACRED" as our core values which stands
as
S - Sincere in the services
that we provide
A - Pro-active in attending to the needs of the
community
C - Compassionate in our actions
R - Reliable in service delivery
E - Effective and efficient in executing the services
D - "Dakwah - inviting all that is good,
enjoining what is right and forbidding what is

7. Founder Members
Among the founder members
of the PPIS were Mrs. K.N.Siraj, Puan Fatimah
Chik bte Abdul Karim, Mrs Aliyah M. Tung, Mrs
G.H.Namazie and Puan Sharifah Aishah Alsagoff.
8. Management Committee
PPIS is run by a 13-member
Executive Committee (Exco) which is elected every
two years. Headed by its current president, Ms
Fatimah Azimullah, the Exco is responsible for
making decision on matters affecting the running
of and setting direction for the Association.
The members are volunteers. |
